Scent sports such as Nosework and Barn Hunt aren’t just exciting competitive activities to enjoy with your dog, but they build confidence, focus and teamwork essential for all your favorite activities and a happy home life too. Plus, scent sports are just plain fun!

This class develops search drive and motivation to work, odor recognition and a clear focused response behavior while expanding the skill set to search various elements and work different challenges. Our goal is a happy dog that will not only efficiently and methodically search for and identify target odors in a variety of environments and situations, but WANTS to work and play with their handler.

Ontroduction to Odor is open to teams that have attended the Introduction to K9 Nose Work® class with Revolution Dog Sports ANWI or with another Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI). In the Introduction to Odor class, we will revisit the games we learned in Intro the K9 Nose Work® class and add an odor (Birch) to the environment. We will teach the dog to recognize the odor as something important to the handler and worthy of a canine paycheck. We spend even more time working with the handler in this class, encouraging the observation of the dog when he catches odor and hunts down the odor for yummy treats or a favorite toy. We hone handling skills to provide the best opportunity for your dog to have a successful and fun hunt.

This course is where the real fun starts! Watch and learn from your dog, as he or she hunts down the odor, observe the dog's body language and communication as your dog tells you that odor has been found and that he or she would like to be paid.

This is a 6 weeks course taught by Leslie Burnside NACSW ANWI
